About Wordly Wise
Children's Books
We started with one belief: every Indian child deserves stories that feel as wondrous, as wide, and as true as their own imagination.
How It Started
Wordly Wise Children's Books was born in a small Mumbai flat where our founder, Nandita Rao, could not find a single picture book featuring a child who looked like her daughter. She searched for months. She found nothing.
So she made one. Then another. Then she called every talented author and illustrator she could find — people who understood that children's stories should reflect the full, complex, beautiful reality of growing up in India.
That was eight years ago. Today, Wordly Wise Children's Books is one of India's most trusted children's publishers — with books in twelve languages, partnerships with schools across forty countries, and a simple promise that has never changed: every story we publish will treat children as the thoughtful, curious, remarkable people they already are.
What We Believe
Stories First
We believe deeply in the power of narrative. Before curriculum, before awards, before everything — a great story.
Every Child Seen
We publish books that reflect India's extraordinary diversity so that every reader can see themselves in a story.
Wonder, Always
We protect the sense of wonder — that irreplaceable quality that makes a child look up from the page and say 'whoa'.
Authors as Partners
We work alongside our authors, not above them. Their vision shapes every title we publish.
